Steel Truss & Floor Joist Roll Forming Machine

Floor joists and roof truss members for modular and prefab construction.

What does a steel truss machine supply?

For the roll-forming equipment on this page, the proposed output is cold-formed steel members for an approved truss or joist design. Define the chord, web or joist sections and their hole/notch schedule first. A member-forming line, a truss assembly table and a welded rebar-lattice line are different production systems. Confirm which operation your enquiry requires before comparing machine offers.

Scope to agreeWhat to request in writing
Member roll formingIncluded sections, coil specification, tools, punching/notching, cut lengths and identified trial pieces for each member.
Design and production filesWho supplies the approved member schedule, which file format the controller accepts, and any software licence, export or support charges. Test a buyer file on the proposed control system.
Connections and assemblyIncluded fasteners, connectors, fixtures, tables and handling equipment. Identify separate purchases and trial-fit the actual joint.
Machine and structural acceptanceAgree member measurements and production-trial criteria with the supplier. Have the project engineer separately approve the completed structural design and connections.

Download the blank truss and joist member, software and assembly scope record before comparing quotations. List the design and production software separately, including the licence term, renewal basis, supported buyer-file trial, data export and support responsibilities. Ask what remains usable if a licence expires or the control computer is replaced; the answer must come from the offered system, not another supplier's brochure. Record each required member and connection trial beside the included or excluded equipment.

Use the machine quotation checklist to compare the same included scope. Send the member and connection drawings through our quotation enquiry; Halcyon will review the proposed build with our factory team.

What must a joist or truss-member line prove?

Direct answer: The line should make the engineer-approved section and connection details repeatably. A joist, truss chord or web member may use different profiles and hole or notch locations; none should be inferred from a generic capacity table. Send each member drawing, material grade and thickness range, cut schedule, punching layout and target output.

HTJ-1600 light-gauge steel framing roll-forming line in our Xiamen production base, a machine used for light-duty floor joist members
Factory photo of the HTJ-1600 light-gauge steel framing line from our Xiamen production base's model reference. A website watermark and background wall signs were removed from this image. The source describes light-duty floor joist production; the photo alone does not establish suitability for your truss or joist design, material, punching layout, structural capacity or target output.

What does the published HTJ-1600 reference cover?

HTJ-1600/HTJ-1600T product listing names roof-truss members at 75, 89 and 140 mm and light-duty floor-joist members at 89, 140 and 160 mm. It lists a 75–160 mm profile-width range and material thickness up to 1.6 mm. These are published limits for that production-base reference, not a confirmed range or structural rating for every Halcyon proposal.

Before using that model as a shortlist, send the separate joist and truss-member drawings and ask the factory to identify the exact offered variant, tooling for each width, hole/notch stations and steel-grade limits in a current written specification. Require measured trial pieces and a trial-fit connection for each requested member. A member shape shown in a catalogue does not establish the capacity of an assembled floor or roof.

  • Trial evidencemeasure repeat members and trial-fit an approved joint or small assembly

Who validates structural capacity?

The project engineer, using the specified material and connection design. A machine trial can verify geometry and assembly fit, not a finished floor or roof's load rating. Compare CFS framing-line requirements when wall, floor and roof member schedules must be coordinated.

Send us your profile drawing

We will review your profile drawing, material, hole pattern and target output with our factory team before confirming the proposed scope and quotation.

Compare the equipment, software and assembly package

Design software and machine software do different jobs

The project design defines the structural members and connections. Production software turns an approved member schedule into machine instructions for the offered line. A drawing file that opens on an office computer is not proof that its holes, notches, lengths or labels will run correctly on the machine controller. Ask who owns each step, then run an identified buyer file through the proposed workflow and compare the physical parts with the approved schedule.

Ask for a demonstration of the software proposed for your selected machine, and confirm its name, version, functions, accepted file formats, licence terms and support in the quotation. Design functions and production-control functions must be identified separately; availability of software does not establish every CAD interface or structural-design approval.

Machine trials can be arranged against customer drawings and material requirements. Send the approved member drawings, steel grade, thickness range, punching or notch schedule and target output so we can agree the proposed trial, sample quantities, measurements and any charges before proceeding. Ask for a continuous production recording and measured sample results from that agreed trial.

Use the available references, then request build-specific evidence

For the proposed build, request current photographs, a continuous member-production video, measured repeat samples and an actual connection trial. No matched Halcyon truss production video or customer acceptance report is presented here; the reference photograph cannot substitute for those records.

Member and connection trial

Measure the member, then assemble the actual joint

Specify whether the requested output is a floor joist, truss chord, web member or several separate sections. For each one, issue a revision-controlled drawing, steel grade and thickness range, hole or notch schedule, cut lengths and target output. Ask our factory team to identify which tools and stations are proposed for each section. Witness a sample run using the specified material, measure first-off and later pieces, and assemble the intended screw, bolt or connector joint. Machine acceptance addresses the formed part and connection fit; it does not establish structural capacity of a finished floor or truss.

Send the member and connection drawings

Record from the trial

  • Member identity, drawing revision, grade and coating
  • Web, flange, lip and hole/notch position measurements
  • Cut length and end condition on repeat samples
  • Connector fit and fastening access at the real joint
  • Separate tooling and changeover scope for each section
Can one line make both joist and truss members?

Only a configuration proposal and sampled tooling trial can confirm that. The two labels do not prove shared rolls, punching or cutting.

Does a machine sample prove floor or truss load capacity?

No. The project engineer must validate the complete structural system, connections and applicable approvals.

What should the buyer compare across offers?

Compare the exact included sections, drawing revisions, tooling, punching/notching method, handling, measured trial pieces and changeover steps. Record any excluded connector or assembly work.
