C/Z Purlin Machine Changeover: A Buyer Test Record

By Halcyon Machinery · Buyer-method review · Published

Direct answer

Test an automatic C/Z purlin machine against two approved, dimensioned profiles. Record the C-to-Z and Z-to-C recipes, material, each operator intervention, the first acceptable part after each change and subsequent sample measurements. A video showing movement of the adjustment mechanism is context, not evidence that both finished profiles and hole positions meet the drawings.

Separate original workshop photograph of a C/Z purlin line from our Xiamen production base's technical material set received 17 September 2026. It shows the type of equipment under discussion; it does not show a changeover or prove a model, cycle time, first-off dimensions or accepted order.

Why the word “automatic” is not an acceptance test

A line may adjust some tooling or recipe settings automatically while still requiring the operator to check strip position, punching, cutting or the first formed part. Ask our factory team to list exactly which adjustments belong to the quoted configuration and which remain manual. Compare demonstrations only when they use the same pair of C and Z drawings and the agreed material range.

This article addresses the changeover evidence, separate from the broader C/Z equipment configuration page and the general factory acceptance checklist. A quoted model name alone does not establish the supplied tooling or automation scope.

Example production-base claim: our Xiamen production base describes its F-series stepless C/Z equipment as supporting quick size changes without repeated trial adjustments in its 19 September 2026 product article. The article illustrates an intended workflow; it is not a measured acceptance record for the line in your quotation. Ask which exact model and tooling are offered, then document the operator steps, elapsed time, first acceptable C and Z samples and any scrap or retuning with your own approved drawings and material.

Check the offered F-series variant before setting the trial

If the proposal names an F-series machine, use the HC-300F and HCZ-300F model-scope review to identify the exact current offer. A C-only quotation needs its approved C-size trials; it must not be treated as a witnessed C-to-Z system. Where C and Z are both included, require identified samples and both changeover directions for that configuration.

For the published HCZ-450F example, the source distinguishes controller-operated size adjustment from a separate C/Z interchange and manual vertical punching-position adjustment. Ask which steps apply to the machine offered to you. The HCZ-450F reference does not establish identical functions, changeover times or output for every FC/FX build. Keep the signed scope, drawings and trial results together.

Prepare a two-profile trial sheet

Give our factory team one drawing revision for the target C section and one for the target Z section. For each, list steel grade, thickness range, coil width and inner diameter, hole pattern, cut length, target output and the dimensions that must be measured. Mark whether the trial material is the specified production material or a substitute. A substitute sample should be recorded as a limitation, not silently treated as full-range proof.

Before the run, agree where the changeover timer starts and ends. Recipe-selection time is different from elapsed time between the last accepted old-profile part and the first accepted new-profile part. If cycle time matters, record scrap, re-threading, retuning and sample measurement within the agreed boundary; this page states no universal changeover time.

Each cell above is a field for an actual test record, not a completed test result. Link the video or photographs to labeled samples and measurement notes. If a dimension or hole location is out of the agreed limit, record the correction and repeat the relevant sample rather than choosing only a visually good frame.

What the trial can and cannot establish

An identified two-profile trial can support a decision about the proposed line's setup sequence and sample geometry on the trial material. It cannot by itself prove long-run output, the entire thickness range, structural design performance or a guaranteed production speed. The accepted technical agreement must state the production envelope, sampling plan and remedies for deviations. Halcyon carries out this review with our factory team; it does not claim to own the factory shown in the photograph.

Questions buyers ask

Is a C-to-Z video enough for acceptance?

No. Keep the video with the drawing revisions, material record and measured first-off samples so the visible adjustment has a verifiable result.

Should the test run in both directions?

If both C and Z profiles are required in production, record C-to-Z and Z-to-C. They may expose different manual steps or setup corrections.

Can one first-off sample prove stable output?

No. A first-off part checks the initial setup. Agree subsequent sample points if repeatability is an acceptance requirement.

What information should a buyer send?

Send both profile drawings, steel grade, thickness range, coil data, punching layout, cut lengths, target output and an agreed sample-measurement method.

Next step for a comparable proposal

Send the two profile drawings, steel grade, thickness range, coil dimensions, punching layout, target output and proposed acceptance method. Use the purlin machine selection guide to compare fixed, manual and automatic approaches. Review the C versus Z profile differences, then submit the drawings for configuration review. Ask our factory team to name the offered model and identify which changeover steps are included.
